It couldn’t have been more perfect timing as the new pope was just announced this morning.
Father Michael visited the grade 5 classes yesterday to discuss the ongoing Conclave. The students had a lot of great questions and were eager to learn more about this historical event. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to gain a deeper understanding of the process and significance behind the election of the pope.
Robert Francis Prevost becomes first U.S.-born pope. Prevost will be known as Pope Leo XIV. Born in Chicago, he was elected on the second day of the conclave.

New for the 2025–2026 school year at École St. Mary is our exciting Volleyball Academy, available to students in Grades 4 to 6.

Important Schedule Update:
This will be the final week for badminton, as the stage will be set up for our Spring Concert on Thursday.
Please note: There will be no morning ball hockey on Thursday, Friday, or the following week due to concert preparations.
-Monday, May 5: Art club at lunch & Karaoke club after school until 4pm.
-Tuesday, May 6: Run4Fun running at lunch & grade four badminton after school until 4:05pm.
-Wednesday, May 7: Hats on for Mental Health (wear your favourite hat), crib club at lunch, grade six field trip to the Legislature, Father Michael visiting & grade five badminton after school.
-Thursday, May 8: Fire drill practice, grade six badminton after school & hang-out with Ms. Ronda Ellis after school.
-Friday, May 9: Celebration of Mary & Mothers @ 11am (all welcome) & Spring concert rehearsal after announcements.

Ms. Whelen is such a big reason why our school feels like a second home for students and staff alike. She puts kids first in every decision, supports us with love and honesty, and never stops reminding us why we do what we do. From the little day-to-day things to coaching, showing up at student events, and pouring her heart into our school, she truly does it all.
We love you, Ms. Whelen! Thank you for being the heart of our school.

Today is School Lunch Hero Day, and we want to take a moment to show our appreciation for Mrs. Loretta Little.
She is truly one-of-a-kind, keeping our students, staff, and entire school community nourished with love and care. Her positivity, kindness, and sense of humor make her an irreplaceable part of our team. We’re so lucky to have her, and we absolutely love her! Thank you, Mrs. Little, for everything you do!
