Our wellness movement for June is crab walks and the kids love to complain about it but look at those smiles3

It's the second week of June, and there's a buzz of excitement in the air as summer draws near. While we're all looking forward to sunny days ahead, there's also a bittersweet feeling as we say goodbye to an incredible school year. Flag football season is wrapping up, and year-end field trips are in full swing-we’re making the most of these final days together and showing gratitude for our school community.

-Monday, June 9: Pancakes for nutrition and focus on our final virtue of the school year-gratitude.
-Tuesday, June 10: Grade six field trip to the WEM waterpark.
-Wednesday, June 11: Fire Drill, Jays Care baseball after school until 4:15 & last School Council & MOOSE Society- Whitecourt meeting.
-Thursday, June 12: Grade six Provincial Achievement exam ELA Part B & Jays Care baseball after school until 4:15.
-Friday, June 13: Grade six Provincial Achievement exam Math Part A & grade four year-end field trip.

Our students are having an amazing time participating in our after-school Jays Care program! From teamwork and resilience to leadership and skill-building, it’s been incredible to watch them grow. A special shoutout to our student leaders who are stepping up in big ways; your creativity, kindness, and confidence are making a real impact. These leaders are able to take a very basic practice plan and add their own drills and games, showing a real knack for coaching. We are so proud!

We had our last Run4Fun training today at lunch and these ladies ran for one minute and walked for one minute for 2 kilometres. Thank you to all the staff, Lori Simard, Amanda Stubbs, Maddy Bryson and Charlene Marks-Augot for volunteering at lunch recess for the past month and a bit to get our students ready for the upcoming Whitecourt Run4Fun. Good luck to everyone participating on Saturday!

A heartfelt thank you to Canfor for their generous donation supporting the extracurricular activities at École St. Mary School. The St. Mary Sharks were proud to accept this thoughtful contribution from Kristy. Your support helps us continue to collaborate, connect and create beyond the classroom.

As we step into the final days of learning and fun for the 2024–2025 school year, we celebrate all that we've achieved together.
Our Virtue for June is Gratitude – a time to reflect on the blessings of the year and express thanks for our community, our learning, and one another.
Our Sacred Teaching is: Every Child Matters – a powerful reminder of the dignity, value, and unique gifts of every student.
Our Wellness Movement is: Crab Walks! Let’s keep moving and have fun as we build strength and coordination.
This will be the last week for indoor ball hockey!
-Monday, June 2: National Rocky Road Day (ice cream).
-Tuesday, June 3: Last Run4Fun training at lunch and Flag Football after school until 4:05.
-Wednesday, June 4: Jays Care baseball after school until 4:15.
-Thursday, June 5: New options begin, grade six vaccinations and Jays Care baseball after school until 4:15.
-Friday, June 6: Pizza Day
