What's Up in Kindergarten

February News and Events
Animated Literacy: This month we will learn the letters: k, f and b.
Valentine’s Day
All classes will organize special Valentine’s Day activities. If any items are needed for this day, teachers will contact room representatives who will then contact individual parents. To assist the many children who like to exchange Valentines, we will be sending a class list home with your child.
School Spirit Day
On Tuesday, February 14, students are encouraged to dress up in any Valentine’s colors (red, pink, white, and purple) to show their school spirit.
Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten Registration
École St. Mary School is busy preparing for the 2012-2013 school year. Our junior kindergarten and regular kindergarten registration/information evening will be held on February 16 at 7pm. We would like to welcome any families that are considering registering their child at École St. Mary School to attend this information evening. (You may register your child at any time and you are not required to attend this session. It is to provide information on our programs and school.) You will be treated to a school tour and a personal meet and greet with the junior kindergarten staff and kindergarten teachers. Registration packages will be available at this event, as well as at the school office any time. Please bring along your child’s birth certificate to complete the registration.
Shrove Tuesday and Jump-a-thon
Please stay tuned to the school newsletter for more details regarding these other activities.
Coffee Meeting
Ecole St. Mary School's first coffee meeting this year will be on February 21st at 7:00. We will be hosting an evening for parents of children ages 0-12 about Positive Parenting. The event is sponspored by Alberta Education and Alberta Human Services. Dr. Matthew Sanders, founder of the Triple P Positive Parenting Program, and star of England's "Driving Mum and Dad Mad", will provide an array of ideas and answers that are key to raising healthy, happy and well-behaved children, through a webinar. If you are interested in attending, please contact Mrs. Britt (michelle.britt@livingwaters.ab.ca).
Special Reminders
Our library exchange day is Wednesday.
Hotdogs are available each Wednesday. They cost $1 per hotdog. Please send hotdog money in a labelled ziploc bag in your child's zip folder. Money found in lunch kits is often found too late for ordering hotdogs.
Milk cards are available at the office. A 5-milk card costs $3.50 and a 10-milk card costs $7.00. We keep these in the classroom and your child can order a milk everyday.
