Junior Kindergarten:

Where we are busy playing, learning and growing!

We hope you are enjoying our new program as much as we are. We have had a successful start to our year and are enjoying getting to know your children.

As Parents and Teachers we have come up with some pointers that will help us as staff, you as parents, and most importantly your child enjoy Junior Kindergarten to the fullest!

1. Ecole St. Mary School has students that are severley allergic to nuts. To keep these students safe we ask that you only send items that DO NOT contain nuts to school with your children.

2. Our children often have the same lunch bag, backpack, shoes etc. as another child in class, so labeling any items with your child's name will help us try to avoid mix-ups.

3. With our students being so young, VELCRO is always best! One child with an untied shoe isn't hard to fix....26 children with untied shoes is dangerous!

4. The more comfortable YOU are during drop off with your children, the more comfortable they will be. Almost minutes after parents leave a crying child at school they are calm, playing and happy!

5. Our children are learing to become independant. Practicing putting on shoes, cleaning up plates and cups etc. at home are going to help them to be independant at school. Please know we are here to HELP your children, if they are willing to try. If they are not successful on the first try we are here to help them try again until they are successful.

6. one or two snacks is enough for our snack break. If the children see a full lunch bag, they tend to think they must eat all of it.

7. We do this job because WE LOVE CHILDREN! We are educated to help children learn and grow. We are silly, fun and full of exciting ideas to share with your children.

While teaching them, we will show them love, respect and care at all times.

Parent Pointers: We are teaching children to print there name using tracing techniques, we use a capital at the beginning of the name and lowercase for the remaining letters. We also hold our pencil with our "pincher" fingers when printing.
