Happy New Year.

In math we are completing our unit on mental math strategies. Please continue to practice these strategies as they are very important. We will continue to practice and strengthen these skills throughout the remainder of the school year. We are beginning our linear measurement unit. Please watch for parent letters for each math unit.

Please spend time reading each night. Participation in the Home Reading Program is key to helping your child development their Literacy skills. Students are very excited about reading and it is a very important part of our Literacy Program. As well, each week in your child's agenda you will notice the Must Know Words. Please practice spelling these words as the students are expected to spell these words correctly in their everyday writing. These words are high frequency words, that are used regularly in reading and writing. Please remember to fill in your child's reading log everyday and send book baggies each day. Thank-you We are busy with guided reading and literacy centers. We will also continue to work on our creative writing skills. Students are learning to add description and details to their writing assignments. As well as, creating a strong beginning, middle and end to their stories.
